Biography
Pain Confessor, a Finnish metal band, came together in 2002. Label interest followed rapidly, resulting in a three-album contract signed with Megamania in 2003. The outfit issued its debut full-length, Turmoil, during 2004 and soon collected honors that included the Newcomer of the Year Award at the Sirkkelirock Metal Weekend in 2005. After several singles climbed the Finnish charts, Pain Confessor delivered its sophomore release, Fearrage, in 2006; the set became the group’s first to reach the national Top 40. A number-one single in Finland, “Ne Plus Ultra,” arrived ahead of the third album, Purgatory of the Second Sun, which advanced to the Top 20 on the album charts in 2007. Once the Megamania deal concluded, Markku Kivisto (vocals), Mikko Kivisto (bass, vocals), Tuomas Kuusinen (guitars), Vesa Sakkinen (guitars), Pasi Laihanen (keyboards), and Mikko Laihanen (drums) used the opening months of 2008 to seek their next career move.
