Biography
Although their paths first crossed in 1992, the Dutch house production pair Pako & Frederik waited until 1993 before merging their individual approaches to studio work. Each had already spent time crisscrossing Europe to play house records in upscale venues, and Frederik had put out several of his own pieces through the Gyrate imprint he founded. Their opening release, "Vauvenage," was cut in the south of France and quickly led to further club successes such as "The Magic Shop" and "Seaside Atmosphere." The launch of their own Majestic Music label in 1996 soon placed Pako & Frederik tracks onto mix CDs compiled by Carl Cox, Derrick Carter, and John Digweed. By 2001 John Digweed had begun signing their material to his Bedrock label, while an intensive run of DJ dates carried the duo into America. Global Underground issued the pair’s first album-length project, Atlantic Breakers, in 2003.
