Pamela Williams

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, Williams took up the tenor saxophone at a very early age. While attending King High School in her native city, she performed with the Martin Luther King Jazz Ensemble. Already in her teenage years, she fronted her own group, performing in area venues and developing a broad selection of material that included jazz, Latin, R&B, and hip-hop. At age 20, she joined Patti LaBelle’s tour, which continued for nearly six years. Her 1996 release of ‘Secret Garden’ from the album Saxtress, including vocal contributions from Teena Marie and LaBelle, remained on the Billboard Top 25 for four months. Additional collaborations include work with Prince as well as video appearances alongside Barry White. This gifted musician has attracted a strong audience of younger fans through her appealing fusion of smooth jazz with modern pop elements.
