Biography
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, the four-piece outfit Pampers delivers noisy, art-damaged punk rock laced with garage-rock hooks while blending sharp intelligence and raw attitude under their self-applied label of “thug pop.” The lineup consists of Carl Cirone handling guitar, keyboards, and vocals, John Kramer on guitar, Jordan Lovelace—formerly of Black Centipede—on bass and vocals, and Peter Buxton on drums. In July 2011 the group issued its debut single, “Eruptions” backed with “Samantha” and “Monkey Drip,” through its own Jack Shack Records imprint; the pressing quickly sold out, and the band started attracting favorable attention around Brooklyn thanks to its frantic stage performances, aggressive sound, and theatrical presence. Jack Shack followed with a second 7-inch in May 2012 containing “Guts” on the A-side along with “Rat Hole” and “Lies.” Growing interest led to a partnership with In the Red Records for the band’s first LP, the self-titled Pampers, which was recorded by Ben Greenberg of fellow Brooklyn band the Men and surfaced in October 2013 alongside a U.S. tour.
