Biography
In Memphis, a psych-rock ensemble initially assembled as Load of Mischief, uniting vocalist David Mayo, guitarist Jimmy Tarbutton, bassist Ray Sanders, keyboardist Ken Woodley and drummer Larry Wall. After inking a deal with HIP, the Stax subsidiary, the band started sessions for its debut LP only to have ex-Mar-Kay Don Nix take over the entire project, enlisting himself as songwriter, producer and engineer while requiring the group to adopt the name Paris Pilot. Remarkably, Nix stands as the sole musician credited on the self-titled album that appeared in 1969, after which the Paris Pilot members rejected the finished record, its sales proved dismal and the band broke up shortly thereafter.
