Biography
Parlor Greens deliver instrumental, organ-driven blues, funk, and soul that evokes the spirit of Booker T. & the MG’s and the Meters while steering clear of labored imitation, drawing attention from present-day audiences. Hammond organist Adam Scone, guitarist Jimmy James, and drummer Tim Carman formed the trio through an unplanned convergence. Prior to this union, Scone had built a reputation with the Miami-based Scone Cash Players, James with the Seattle-born True Loves and Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio, and Carman with Boston’s GA-20, with each musician already attached to the Loveland, Ohio-based soul revival imprint Colemine Records. Carman took the initial step by proposing that a fresh organ combo track at Colemine’s Portage Studio and enlisting Scone and James. The three quickly settled into the groove that shaped “West Memphis,” a cut that nodded to Sam & Dave’s “Soul Man” yet carried a leaner, more stripped-down edge. That track anchored the group’s debut album In Green We Dream, which included nine additional originals alongside a version of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord.” The record moved well enough to require repeated vinyl and CD pressings, after which the band booked shows alongside Seattle labelmates the Dip.
