Biography
Patrick Wolf, a multi-talented musician skilled on the violin while also serving as vocalist and songwriter, first delved into audio creation upon reaching eleven years old. Instead of pursuing typical adolescent pastimes, this advanced youngster engaged with four-track setups and gradually accumulated a collection of devices featuring secondhand keyboards alongside a self-constructed theremin. His involvement with the artistic group Minty commenced at fourteen, drawing notice from Fat Cat Records, prompting them to provide him with digital equipment and production gear to further his musical trials. Departing his residence at sixteen led to the establishment of Maison Crimineaux, a project that traveled to France for a performance witnessed by the electronic specialist Kristian Robinson, better known as Capitol K, resulting in the issuance of Wolf's acclaimed first album from 2003. Achieving the thirty-ninth spot on NME's annual best albums ranking, Lycanthropy also garnered praise across both continents, inspiring Wolf to pursue studies in composition at Trinity College Music Conservatoire. This academic pursuit manifested in the 2005 album Wind in the Wires, presenting somber arrangements blending introspective English folk elements with ensemble pop, enhanced by a cool digital texture. The year 2007 saw the arrival of Magic Position, noted for its vibrant diversity, followed by Bachelor in 2009 sharing comparable stylistic choices, earning widespread approval from critics for each effort.
