Paul Bacon earned recognition as a leading graphic designer and illustrator through his creation of numerous celebrated LP covers for Riverside and Blue Note throughout the 1950s. Drawn to classic jazz, he took up occasional singing and comb playing in the manner of Red McKenzie beginning in the late 1940s, motivated solely by personal enjoyment. Regular appearances came in 1974 as he joined a selection within Bob Greene’s “World of Jelly Roll Morton,” followed in the early 1990s by stage performances at Cajun, a New York jazz club. An agreeable session for Jazzology appeared under his name in 1996.
