Biography
Paul Rishell, a guitarist and vocalist from the Boston area, concentrates on country blues yet has also shown his abilities in scattered appearances with an electric group during more recent seasons. Capitalizing on the resurgence of acoustic styles overall, he has carried his acoustic country blues approach to festivals and clubs across the United States, regularly joined by his harmonica-playing associate Little Annie Raines. Rishell devoted many years to refining his technique before ever stepping into a studio and has shared bills with Son House, Johnny Shines, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, John Lee Hooker and Bonnie Raitt. Several albums of his appear on the Tone-Cool label, among them Blues on Holiday (1990), Swear to Tell the Truth (1993), I Want You to Know (1996) and Moving to the Country (1999).
