An accomplished singer, composer, and performer of traditional blues and jazz draws inspiration from Bessie Smith, Dinah Washington, Alberta Hunter, and Joe Williams. Her releases typically pair exceptional supporting players with her alluring, distinctive, and subtle vocal approach, whether in intimate solo guitar settings or robust large-ensemble arrangements propelled by brass sections. Ongoing appearances occur throughout New York City and its environs, complemented by festival dates and tours across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Live and studio work has encompassed John Hammond, David Bromberg, and Dr. John among other partners. Nominations arrived for a Handy Blues Award in 1982 and a New York City Music Award in 1986.
