Biography
Known professionally as Paula Tape, Chilean DJ and producer Paula Soto Carmona originated in Santiago de Chile. Her introduction to music came through drumming in multiple indie rock bands, an early chapter that later shaped the layered rhythmic designs within her wide-ranging productions steeped in Balearic house. During her early twenties she pivoted to electronic music and launched her work as a DJ. The 2015 relocation to Europe accelerated her trajectory, yielding recognition as a DJ with worldwide reach, regular appearances in leading scene publications and broadcasts, and ongoing residencies in London, Paris, and Milan, the city she has since made her home. SOBO issued her debut EP, Agua Congas, in 2018. Additional singles and remixes followed, as did the EPs Astroturismo in 2021 and Acid Latino in 2024, appearing on labels including Munich’s Permanent Vacation, London’s Rhythm Section, and Sidney’s Future Classic.
