His professional career opened in the 1970s when he joined the backing vocalists on Erasmo Carlos’ album A Banda dos Contentes, later becoming Carlos’ electric and acoustic guitarist and securing further recordings of his own material. From 1977 to 1979 he played guitar in the group Semente with Cláudio Nucci (vocals/guitar), Mário Adnet (vocals/guitar), Cláudio Infante (drums), Ricardo Mará (bass), Zé Luís Oliveira (brass), and Márcio Resende (brass).
