Biography
Payne's Grey explores darkly ambient goth rock laced with infusions of metal, electronica, and industrial, drawing inspiration from the Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees, and the Sisters of Mercy.
Formed in Dallas, TX, during the early '90s, the group originated when singer and multi-instrumentalist Murdock Scott teamed with guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Shawn O'Neill for a series of collaborations. The pair performed regularly at the 500 Café in Dallas, delivering strange experimental music that sometimes involved striking hub caps.
Nearly a decade after the duo first came together, Payne's Grey issued their debut album, Pull It Down, in 2002.
