PC Worship operates as an experimental rock outfit from Brooklyn, steered by Justin Frye on guitar and vocals. Originally from Virginia, Frye oversees a fluid roster of players. The ensemble favors custom-built or damaged instruments alongside lo-fi capture methods, producing material that spans austere avant-garde works and ragged, abrasive garage punk in the vein of Sonic Youth and Royal Trux. Its first tapes, issued in 2009, consisted of extended folk-drone works performed on acoustic tools such as saxophones, strings, and bowed saws. Later output incorporated warped noise pop, psychedelia, free jazz, and grunge. SHDWPLY Records put out the debut album NYC Stone Age along with the 7" EPs Live Reduxion and a split with the Super Vacations, while additional cassettes surfaced via Night People and Moon Glyph. The follow-up album Toxic Love appeared jointly through Evil Weevil Records and Psychic Lunch Records in 2012, after which Beat Punk arrived on New Images—the imprint operated by Ducktails’ Matt Mondanile—in 2013. PC Worship then shifted to Brooklyn’s Northern Spy imprint for Social Rust in 2014, Basement Hysteria in 2015, and Buried Wish in 2017.
