Biography
In 2006, after devoting six years to its creation, singer and producer Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantômas) completed Peeping Tom, marking another entry among his many realized endeavors. Drawing from director Michael Powell’s 1960 cult thriller that shares the title, Patton forwarded recordings over an extended period to an eclectic roster of possible partners that included Amon Tobin, Bebel Gilberto, Norah Jones, Massive Attack, and Kool Keith, with the final three ultimately supplying contributions, all in service of an album stripped of any physical intimacy. Issued through Patton’s Ipecac imprint, the finished Peeping Tom blends arcane elements with unexpected approachability by weaving together an assortment of musical approaches and performers that resists conventional categorization.
