Biography
Peoples Bizarre assembled their distinctive chamber jazz sound in 2001 by uniting participants from the avant garde jazz scenes of the Midwest and San Francisco for a collaborative effort. With Colin Stetson, a collaborator of Recloose and Tom Waits, handling clarinet duties alongside violinist Sarah Zaharako, who studied under Fred Frith, accordionist Dan Cantrell known from Balkan music ensembles, cellist Jessica Ivry as a freelance string player, bassist Eric Perney who established Transmission, and drummer Josh Tillinghast previously with Poignant Plecostomus, the group pushed the limits of the genre through an innovative and bold style on their self-titled first album.
