Biography
In Los Angeles, the trio Permission to Breathe assembled during 1995, built around Bryan Boussard on vocals and bass, Erle McCan III on vocals and guitar, and Matt Webb behind the drums. The group blended melodic pop songwriting with fresh rock accents, which helped them cultivate a growing audience through their high-energy concerts. California radio outlets gave their dynamic rock numbers steady rotation across the region. The next year the band secured a contract with Solid Discs Records and tracked their debut release, the self-titled Permission to Breathe album, which appeared in October 1996. While supporting Third Eye Blind and Jars of Clay on the road, Breathe kept their focus on presenting the new material night after night in front of live crowds.
