Biography
Born in Sligo, Ireland, the introspective singer in his twenties, known for his carefully woven atmospheric style, has built a growing audience across France. The track “The Hunchback Of San Francisco,” taken from his self-titled debut album, earned widespread praise in that country, as did the subsequent single “Genevieve.” His chief inspirations among troubadours are Leonard Cohen, Scott Walker, Nick Drake, and David Sylvian, the last of whom is linked through his brother Steve Jansen, who played on Blake’s sophomore album Still Life, issued last year by the French imprint Naive. As this is written, Blake readies a brief run of dates through France, Belgium, and Spain.
