Biography
Originating from the modest mining community of Coatbridge in Scotland, Pete MacLeod crafts introspective and tuneful rock compositions as a vocalist and composer. His early musical tastes were shaped by iconic British bands including the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks, yet he attributes his initial motivation to play guitar to the sounds of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana. During the 2000s, he put out numerous singles, EPs, and full-length recordings independently via his ModRock Music imprint, frequently performing under the name the Star69. After residing in California for multiple years, he came back to his homeland and issued the EP titled Glasgow Keeps Me Real, California Lets Me Heal at the start of 2013. This release garnered positive responses, leading to the track “Rolling Stone” being selected as BBC Radio Scotland’s single of the month. His work soon drew the interest of Alan McGee, the individual behind Creation Records, resulting in a contract with the newly established 359 Music label. Under this arrangement, MacLeod put forth his first album on the imprint, Rolling Stone LP, toward the end of 2013.
