Singer/songwriter Peter Cincotti blends jazz piano and vocals with a strong pull toward adult alternative pop and rock echoes from the 1970s. His musical gifts surfaced early when his grandmother gave him a toy piano at age three, prompting formal lessons by the time he turned four. At seven he caught the ear of Harry Connick, Jr., who invited the youngster onstage for a performance at Bally's Grand in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He later pursued classical training at the Manhattan School of Music while studying jazz piano under Ellis Marsalis and additional mentors. By twelve he had turned professional, performing regularly in New York clubs, and in 1999 he began accompanying his own singing. That same summer he joined Connick on the road.

Cincotti reached the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2000, where he claimed a prize in the piano competition. The following year he appeared in the off-Broadway show Our Sinatra, graduated from the Horace Mann School, and entered Columbia University as a freshman in the fall. In February 2002, still eighteen, he became the youngest artist ever to headline the Oak Room at New York’s Algonquin Hotel. Concord Records signed him, and Phil Ramone produced his self-titled debut album, issued in March 2003.

His second release, On the Moon, entered Billboard’s jazz chart at number two in late 2004, pairing standards with original material that already tilted toward adult alternative pop. The project earned his first gold certification in France and fueled an extensive world tour. In 2007 the single Goodbye Philadelphia signaled a sharper turn toward rock songwriting and performance. East of Angel Town arrived in 2009, retaining traces of jazz-tinged pop yet functioning primarily as a pop-rock singer/songwriter statement shaped by producer David Foster. Metropolis followed in 2012, emphasizing adult alternative and dance-rock textures. Over the ensuing years Cincotti moved to a house on the Jersey Shore, constructed a home studio, and focused on fresh material, culminating in the 2017 solo album Long Way from Home.
