His Sound Orchestra launched the path of another prominent producer, Giorgio Moroder. After extended disregard through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Thomas gained fresh notice by the close of the decade. Bungalow Records and City Slang jointly released a Raumpatrouille compilation in 1996, prompting Pulp to sample one selection as the title track for their 1997 album This Is Hardcore. The year 1998 saw two Thomas anthologies surface: the wide-ranging Tanzmusik and 100% Cotton, the latter drawing on his soundtrack work for the Jerry Cotton film series (the German counterpart to James Bond).
