Biography
Phallus Dei emerged from Germany as an industrial outfit whose sound merged dark Gothic romanticism with a lurid fixation on sex and violence. The group’s earliest recording appeared as a self-made cassette issued inside the country in 1988, after which five albums and one CD-ROM single helped them cultivate a European audience. Their first domestic U.S. release arrived in 1997 in the form of the best-of compilation Adorations.
