Phaser

Phaser, hailing from Washington D.C., diverge from the city's dominant indie pop and hardcore currents by drawing on the Verve's dreamy songwriting and Spiritualized's exploratory methods. Their debut release, Skydive, arrived in summer 2000 and secured opening slots on tours with Gomez, Super Furry Animals, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Continued songwriting yielded the EP Sway, which prompted Emperor Norton to sign the band in summer 2002. The EP Life and Illusion/Sway brought their music to a national audience even as Phaser began recording their first album for the label.
