Trumpeter Phil Grenadier shares a family tie with jazz bassist Larry Grenadier, whose career has flourished on a grand scale. Born in San Francisco, he now splits his schedule between residences in Boston and New York. Appearances as a sideman have placed him on recordings alongside Bob Belden, Owen Howard, Harvey Wainapel, Bob Nieske, and Melissa Kassel. In 2000 his first album under his own name, Sweet Transients, reached the public and revealed both his advanced command of improvisation and leadership along with ties to emerging talents including Seamus Blake, Ethan Iverson, and Bill Stewart.
