Biography
Philip Owusu, a Copenhagen-based songwriter, producer, instrumentalist, and vocalist, contributed to several recordings throughout the 2000s. Key among them were the deep house single “Nevermore,” issued under the Owusu & Green name on Naked Music in 2003; the 2006 full-length Living with Owusu & Hannibal, a joint project with Robin Braun for Ubiquity; and the 2007 Environ 12-inch by Metro Area, which featured his guest vocal on “Read My Mind.” Although he kept a low profile for the opening three years of the following decade, Braun still called on him for work on Quadron’s self-titled album. Late in 2012 the elegant solo track “Goodnight” began circulating on U.K. and U.S. radio after exposure from BBC host Gilles Peterson and KCRW’s Anthony Valadez, leading to its official release in March 2013.
