Phresher

Born in 1989, Brooklyn MC Phresher devoted his youth to athletics until age 21, when he turned his focus toward music. In those formative years he quietly authored more than a hundred tracks that stayed unreleased, using the exercise solely to clarify the direction he wanted his sound to take. Although raised in New York, Phresher cultivated a versatile style that absorbed multiple flavors, with some songs echoing the flows of Southern rappers and others remaining rooted in his East Coast heritage. Online singles and EPs began appearing around 2012, yet his profile stayed modest until the 2016 single “Wait a Minute” broke through. The track drew the attention of 50 Cent, who joined Phresher and Remy Ma on a remix that amplified interest in the young rapper. Early in 2017 the six-track Wait a Minute EP followed, spotlighting the hit remix of the title track along with five additional trap-tinged bangers.
