Biography
Phyllisia Ross, a vocalist and pianist working in pop and R&B, traced her determination to enter entertainment—alongside an interest in pediatrics—to the loss of her father when she was ten. A demo containing her interpretation of “Wind Beneath My Wings,” created as a tribute to him, secured a contract with the SoBe label. The June 2009 single “Sunshine,” which carried guest turns from Ne-Yo and Flo Rida, registered only a short appearance on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart and left Phyllisia without further chart activity until September 2011. On the return release “I Love You,” she enlisted Yung Joc and Jah Cure. Her debut album, which received select production from Scott Storch, was slated to arrive later that year.
