Biography
A French flutist and instructor spent much of his career in Germany, where he gave lessons to Johann Jacob, the younger brother of J.S. Bach. Buffardin earned little notice for his activities as a composer. Apart from the "Trio-sonata in A-dur" scored for flute and the flute "Concerto in E-mol," none of his output is known to survive. Traces remain of his unease concerning the appearance of quarter tones in the music of his era.
