Biography
Paul Hunter, working solo under the Poets of Thought name, delivered jazzy hip-hop textures to the UK drum'n'bass environment via releases on Cookin', an offshoot of LTJ Bukem's Looking Good/Good Looking Records, where the tracks largely dispensed with breakbeats altogether. Bukem's Earth, Vol. 1 compilation, issued late in 1996, gave Hunter room to display his range across two contrasting pieces, one steeped in blunted hip-hop and the other a remarkably precise evocation of '60s Latin-tinged soul-jazz.
