Polo Polo

Leopoldo García Benítez Peláez, who performs as Polo Polo, first saw the light of day in Mexico City during 1944. He rose to prominence as one of Mexico’s most celebrated comedians, drawing audiences across the globe through his singular style of adult-oriented practical jokes. His entry into stand-up began in the 1970s; by 1976 he was routinely filling venues to capacity. The release of his debut album, Viaje e España, expanded his reach and secured an enduring contract with a record label. Across subsequent decades he issued numerous recordings, the majority captured live, along with several greatest-hits collections. The two-volume set Las Caricaturas de Polo Polo surfaced in 2008.
