Biography
The country-rock outfit’s personnel previously appeared in several Toronto ensembles, among them Hello Kitty and UIC. Precious Little came together in 2001, united by a shared affinity for traditional country in the style of Bobbie Gentry. Its inaugural performance took place in August 2001, after which the group secured support slots for Jon Langford and the Rheostatics while also supplying material to a Yoko Ono tribute concert. Later that same year the band entered the studio to cut its first album. Released in May 2002 on Mental Block Inc., the record was titled 100 Miles. Observers have likened Precious Little’s fusion of rock and roots country to the work of Gram Parsons and the Magnetic Fields. The ensemble has further appeared at assorted industry showcases, among them the North by Northeast Festival.
