In the mid-1980s a UK pop punk combo took shape. Leigh had previously performed with the Others while Mick had played in In The Dark, both musicians hailing from the Uxbridge area. Once those groups disbanded, Mick offered his drumming to the new project Leigh was assembling. Vocalist Malcolm answered an advertisement placed in the Sounds music paper, and multi-instrumentalist Gary, an original drummer for the Others, joined on bass. After Gary emigrated, a second Gary filled the role but left almost immediately, whereupon Huggy became the permanent bassist. The last change occurred in 1991 when Pete, also ex-Others, replaced Mick on drums.

Their earliest release was the single ‘The Price You Pay’, issued jointly with So What! fanzine. In 1989 the band joined the Released Emotions roster and recruited Paul Fox (ex-Ruts) to produce their strongest recording, ‘Between The Lies’. Their first album appeared several months later.
