Biography
Zakk Wylde, a New Jersey native, fronted the boisterous Pride & Glory as lead singer and guitarist across the outfit’s brief yet vivid run. James LoMenzo handled bass and supplied backing vocals, while fellow New Jersey native Brian Tichy powered the drums. The resulting sound fused raucous Southern blues-rock with a gritty edge built on commanding guitar riffs.
After earning recognition as a guitarist in Ozzy Osbourne’s band, Wylde formed Pride & Glory near 1994. The hard rock group quickly issued its self-titled debut on the Geffen Records label. Standout tracks from that sole effort included “The Chosen One,” “Horse Called War,” and “Harvester of Pain.”
Wylde then pursued solo heavy metal work, releasing albums such as Book of Shadows, Black Label Society, and Stronger Than Death. James LoMenzo toured with Slash’s Snakepit, the project launched by the Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash. Brian Tichy performed with Foreigner before founding his own band, Ball.
