Biography
Pride Tiger, the Vancouver-based Canadian quartet, evokes the hard rock era of the 1970s without adopting its flared trousers, yet delivers a fully up-to-date sound that still honors the ensemble’s foundational influences. Vocalist and drummer Matt Wood steers the group alongside guitarist Sunny Dhak’s songwriting, with bassist Mike Payette and guitarist Bob Froese supplying backing vocals. The four musicians officially united in 2005 after Dhak, Wood, and Froese departed the metal band 3 Inches of Blood, Payette exited the thrash outfit S.T.R.E.E.T.S., and the players—who had previously performed together in Goatsblood—pooled their efforts. Working at Sunset Lodge Studios in L.A. under producer and engineer Matt Hyde, they issued the EP Wood, Dhak, Froese, Payette in 2006 and the full-length album The Lucky Ones on EMI Canada in 2007.
