Biography
Hailing from Spain, the power pop outfit Protones launched their recording career with an EP packaged alongside the debut issue of the fanzine Rock Indiana, a move that directly preceded their first full-length album, Cartunes. The release of Nothing to Say in 1996 brought Paul Collins of the Plimsouls into the fold, where he produced the band’s next effort, Not That Difficult. Not long afterward, Protones relocated to California to appear at the International Pop Overthrow. In 1999 guitarist Octavio (aka Octavio Vinck) and bassist Tato (aka David Tato) joined the lineup. The Spanish group resurfaced in 2001 with Come Out and Play, an album that included the track “Now That I Think of It,” featured in the movie No Te Fallaré.
