Emerging as a pivotal force in Norwegian rock during the opening half of the 1970s, Prudence issued four studio albums prior to disbanding in 1975. The group’s legacy includes establishing the regional style later termed trønderrock, while Terje Tysland and Åge Aleksandersen each launched extended solo careers as singer/songwriters in its wake. Formed in Namsos, Norway, in 1969, the lineup featured Terje Tysland (vocals, guitar), Åge Aleksandersen (guitar), Per Erik Wallum (flute), Johan Tangen (mandolin), Kjell Ove Riseth (bass), and Kaare Skevik, Jr. (drums). Their first commercial release arrived in 1970 via the single “Into the Fire”/“Kom Bli Med Til København,” the initial offering among three Experience Records singles. Full-length debut Tomorrow May Be Vanished followed in 1972, with Drunk and Happy (1973), No. 3 (1974), and Takk Te Dokk (1975) completing the studio sequence; the final album earned a Spellemannprisen for Pop Album of the Year. After splitting in 1975, the band issued the double-length swan-song concert recording 11-12-75 Live (1976). Tysland and Aleksandersen both pursued successful solo paths thereafter, and the career-spanning anthology Det Det Va appeared in 2005.
