Pulled by Magnets

Pulled by Magnets, an experimental jazz trio, weave hypnotic and otherworldly soundscapes that probe the genre’s more profound dimensions. Prolific jazz drummer Seb Rochford assembled the group after Polar Bear disbanded, recruiting former PB colleague Pete Wareham on saxophone and bassist Neil Charles, known from Zed-U and Empirical. Before committing to the darker aesthetic that defines Pulled by Magnets, Rochford engaged in personal reflection and ultimately chose the Old Church in Stoke Newington as the recording site. Their first album, Rose Golden Doorways, arrived in 2020 and was captured via live takes that avoided heavy studio intervention in order to retain the venue’s natural atmosphere.
