Biography
Edgar Farinas, a producer raised in Miami, operates under the Push Button Objects moniker and has released his inventive blends of hip-hop, electro, and jungle on Schematic and Chocolate Industries in the United States as well as on the British Skam imprint. Although hip-hop forms the foundation of the PBO aesthetic, Farinas merges unprocessed rhythms with processed electronics, unusual samples, and unconventional beats that stray far from the typical midtempo or slower grooves associated with the genre. The Schematic label issued his initial EP, a release that still stands as his finest effort; this imprint is currently under the ownership of Josh Kay and Rom Castillo, who are also known for their work in Phoenecia and Soul Oddity. Considerable anticipation surrounded his debut release on Skam, owing to the label's ties to Autechre, yet that particular EP ranks as his weakest output thus far. Chocolate Industries put out Dirty Dozen, Farinas's inaugural album, in 2000, with several singles coming afterward. The 2002 EP titled Fly (You Ain't) served as an introduction for listeners ahead of the second album, Ghetto Blaster.
