Biography
Queasy Pieces functions as Andrew Anderson’s solo endeavor, fusing punk with electronic pop and dance elements to yield sharp, unsettled compositions. Anderson’s raw, high-impact method on the self-titled 2022 album echoed the sensibilities of Devo and XTC while also aligning with those of Metronomy and Boxed In.
Raised in Manchester, Anderson developed an early appreciation for Fatboy Slim; by age fifteen he was performing in punk groups including Hipshakes, Proto Idiot, and Freak Genes. He established Queasy Pieces while living in Bulgaria, seeking both to revisit his initial interest in dance music and to work with drum machines and synths without disturbing neighbors. The November 2022 edition of Queasy Pieces combined abrasive punk production techniques with electronic instrumentation, incorporating performances by musicians from the Be Positives and Holiday Ghosts and final mastering from Mikey Young.
