Biography
In the early 1990s Katie Jane Garside drew notice as the frontwoman of U.K. post-punk outfit Daisy Chainsaw. Torn dresses caked in mud formed her signature rag doll look, turning her exposed vulnerability into an immediate focal point for press coverage. The band issued only one album built around Garside’s vocal theatrics before she exited in 1992, driven out by the demands of constant public scrutiny. Eight years afterward she reunited with former Daisy Chainsaw guitarist Crispin Grey, recruiting bassist Orson Wajih and drummer Billy Freedom to launch QueenAdreena. The new group delivered Taxidermy on Blanco y Negro during fall 2000. Drink Me appeared from the same lineup two years later.
