Biography
The post-grunge quartet Radford drew its name from the middle name of frontman Jonny Mead. After moving from his birthplace of Oxford, England to Los Angeles in 1995, Mead recruited guitarist Chris Hower and bassist Bobby Stefano via a classified advertisement before rounding out the group with drummer Kane McGee. RCA offered the band a contract in fall 1998 based on the strength of its demos and live shows, which soon led to placements on several 1999 film soundtracks: "Closer to Myself" appeared in Clubland and Never Been Kissed, while "Fall at Your Feet" featured in Teaching Mrs. Tingle. The self-titled debut album finally reached stores in spring 2000.
