Radioactive Man

Keith Tenniswood, a British producer born in Chertsey, Surrey, England, works chiefly under the Radioactive Man name and gained widespread recognition as one half of the electronica duo Two Lone Swordsmen. He first picked up the guitar at nine years old, yet electronic dance music and Britain’s club scene captured his attention more strongly during his teenage years. The sounds he encountered on the dancefloor prompted a full commitment to the genre, leading to his first recordings in 1994. Those initial efforts appeared as a pair of 12" EPs on Full Circle, issued in partnership with Jason Critchell under the 7 HZ banner. Around the same period Tenniswood became acquainted with Jagz Kooner of Sabres of Paradise and was asked to serve as sound engineer for the group’s 1995 tour alongside Primal Scream. He soon joined forces with another Sabres member, Andrew Weatherall, forming Two Lone Swordsmen; the pair later explored additional aliases together. Their debut full-length under that name, The Fifth Mission (Return to the Flightpath Estate), arrived in 1996 on Weatherall’s Emissions Audio Output imprint. Two more albums followed on the same label—Swimming Not Skimming in 1996 and Stockwell Steppas in 1997—before Warp Records took over and issued Stay Down (1998), A Bag of Blue Sparks (1998), A Virus with Shoes (1999), Tiny Reminders (2000), Further Reminders (2001), and From the Double Gone Chapel (2004). Tenniswood simultaneously launched his own imprint, Control Tower, alongside Simon Brown, better known as the Dexorcist. He also launched a solo path as Radioactive Man, unveiling the self-titled debut album on Rotters Golf Club in 2001. Continuing under that alias, he delivered the studio set Booby Trap and the DJ mix Fabric 08 in 2003. Additional 12" EPs appeared on both Rotters Golf Club and Control Tower across the years, culminating in the third studio album Growl in 2008.
