An American musician and producer, Randal Collier-Ford crafts menacing and brooding dark ambient soundscapes, as displayed on the 2015 album Remnants and the 2017 release Promethean. Originating from Oregon in the Pacific Northwest, he launched his career in 2012 through several side projects, including Temple of Algolagnia, Grey Light Shade, and Mors Universa. After issuing multiple recordings under those names, he chose to reshape the presentation of his work late that year and thereafter issued material solely under his own name. Kalpamantra, an English imprint, handled his first such effort, the 2012 album Dark Corners. The label followed with two further releases, Queen of Sheba in 2013 and Gods Never Never Sleep in 2014, the latter title appearing in traditional Hindi. In 2015 he joined Cryo Chamber Records, the home for every subsequent project. The first of these, the album Architects, introduced a modest shift in approach. While preserving the dark ambient and drone textures for which he had become known, he began applying more inventive sound design and frequent rhythm changes to produce a stronger cinematic character. Cryo Chamber issued two additional works, Remnants in 2015 and Promethean in 2017. That same year he independently released the Apex LP.
