Biography
Raw Breed, the New York City crew from the Bronx, are routinely likened to Onyx yet fully embody the “Nastee nigga” designation originally coined for their particular sound. Following a short stint alongside Jam Master Jay of Run DMC, the group aligned with Ice-T’s Rhyme Syndicate to begin their recording path. Mark Rippin—cousin of Ultramagentic MC’s Kool Keith—plus four additional members formed the lineup that opened their discography with the 1993 single “Rabbit Stew,” a track railing against “all the wack MCs, and wack groups that came out in ‘93.” That release secured a major-label deal, resulting in the 1997 album Blood, Sweat & Tears.
