Biography
Guitarist and vocalist Ronnie Ray Padilla formed the all-star jazz ensemble Raydience by recruiting current and former players from Tower of Power and Garaj Mahal, along with artists who had performed or recorded alongside Carlos Santana, Steve Winwood, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock, Sergio Mendes, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, and the Pointer Sisters. Among the lineup were Mic Gillette handling trumpet and trombone duties, George Brooks on saxophone, Eric Levy at the keyboards, Gary Brown and Kai Eckhardt sharing bass responsibilities, Celso Alberti and Billy Johnson on drums, and Kenneth Nash contributing percussion. In 2010 the collective issued an album titled Raydience featuring Padilla's original compositions through Megawave Records on January 26.
