Razor N' Guido, a production duo based on Long Island, secured their entry into the New York house circuit through support from DJs including Junior Vasquez. Wider recognition arrived after they delivered a remix of Robert Miles' hit single "Fable" as well as Notorious B.I.G.'s "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems." Their debut full-length album, Dance Floor, appeared in mid-2000 on Groovilicious, the subsidiary label launched by the established house imprint Strictly Rhythm.

Peter Ozback, who records as Razor, and Guido Osorio had already formed a friendship before any musical partnership began. At the moment they first connected, Ozback belonged to a band experimenting with rap and had been brought in specifically for his command of hip-hop. In his spare time he created club remixes and acquired hands-on studio experience. Although Osorio considered the moment too early to release any of their work, the pair completed the track "Good Time" for Empire State on Eightball. Their collaboration became permanent once Ozback received a spec mix from Johnny Vicious, an introduction made through the well-known New York MTV DJ Skribble. Further contacts quickly generated multiple assignments, among them the remix of Robert Miles' anthem "Fable." The duo also released material under the name Razor N' GO, a title many listeners mistook for either a solo artist or an unrelated project even though it simply reflected Osorio's initials. Additional momentum came from remix specialist and DJ Junior Vasquez, who featured their productions at events worldwide. In 2000 the major house label Strictly Rhythm signed them to its Groovilicious offshoot. The resulting album Dance Floor, issued that year, contained the first three Razor N' Guido singles: "Men Beat Their Men," "Do It Again," and "Don't Look Behind You."
