Biography
Red Jacket Mine originated in the mid-'90s as a solo home-recording venture launched by singer/songwriter Lincoln Barr during his time in Missouri. Once Barr relocated to Seattle, he brought in drummer Andy Salzman, guitarist Patrick Porter, and bassist Ryan Chapman, honed a live repertoire, and launched album production. Early 2008 saw the release of Hello, Old Cloud on Showpony Records, whose string arrangements were handled by Eyvind Kang. The Posies' Ken Stringfellow produced the follow-up, 2009's Lovers Lookout, which again included Kang's contributions. After Matthew Cunningham replaced Ryan Chapman on bass and Daniel Walker joined on keyboards, the group issued a series of 7" singles in 2012 before delivering its third album. Johnny Sangster produced Someone Else's Cake, issued on the band's newly established label, Fin Records.
