Biography
Essential to the sonic identity of the Thameside Four—a skiffle ensemble from the late 1950s that marked the debut group for the noted British folk guitarist and singer Martin Carthy—were the vocal contributions of Redd Sullivan. Joining Sullivan in this outfit were Pete Maynard and Marian Gray, and together they produced a sole long-player titled Hootenanny in London. Captured live at a midnight folk concert, this 1964 release included a duet performance by Sullivan and Carthy on the number "With the End of Me Old Cigar." At a subsequent point, Sullivan contributed to the various-artists collection The Blues at Sunrise alongside a trio that incorporated vocalist/guitarists Gerry Lockran and Dave Travis.
