Reen

Born on September 11, 1976, in Braunschweig, Germany, Rene El Khazraje first gained recognition under the performing aliases Reen and MC Rene. While still a teenager he began freestyling and placed his earliest single, “Reimenergie,” with MZEE in 1993. His debut album, Renevolution, surfaced in 1995; afterward he largely withdrew from the scene aside from occasional live shows, although he contributed to the MZEE label sampler Reneflektion in 1999 and delivered the official full-length Ein Album Namens Bernd the following year. Completion of that project ended his contract with MZEE, and creative differences with the label encouraged him to work independently, first as a DJ on a well-known hip-hop radio broadcast and later with Improversum, which issued Scheiss auf Euren Hip Hop in 2002. Soon afterward, performing solely as Reen, he launched his own imprint, Marraca$h Music, and prepared the album Der Letzte Marokkaner for release in 2005.
