Biography
Reiko Kudo, recognized for her experimental work, launched her recording life by forming the band Noise in 1979 while still using her maiden name Reiko Omaru. After cycling through assorted personnel and approaches, the unit reduced to a duo in which Reiko composed the material, performed on guitar and trumpet, and supplied vocals, with Tori Kudo supplying drums and organ. Noise issued its lone album, Tenno, in 1980. Although Reiko had begun appearing alone as Noise by 1982, her collaboration with Tori persisted and resulted in their marriage. She later contributed to one of Tori’s subsequent groups, Maher Shalal Hash Baz, and issued the solo album Fire Inside My Hat. Further releases appeared on several labels, among them Org., Periodic Document, and Hyotan Records.
